ZOOM meeting of the team of the Russian-Latvian project NewLINE took place

On June 11, 2020 a ZOOM meeting of the partner organizations of LV-RU-040 NewLINE project took place. The meeting was attended by the project staff of NGO “Lake Peipsi Project (Pskov)”, Balvi Municipality (Latvia) and the Center for Curative Pedagogics and Differentiated Learning of the Pskov Region.

The participants in the meeting discussed working issues related to the progress of the NewLINE Project. In particular, it was noted that public events – seminars, trips, festivals – had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, social distancing made it possible to focus efforts on other areas of the project. Thus, an interactive map of historical manors in the Pskov region, Latgale and Vidzeme was prepared, and primary material was collected to create a visual guide to manor parks on the Russian-Latvian border.

Improvement of the former manor park of Gorozhanskiyein Balvi – the so-called “Bear Garden” – is close to completion; the work is scheduled for completion on June 30 this year. Tender procedures were completed in Pskov and work began on the improvement of the Gorozhanskiye estate in Pskov City, a part of the Korytovo Forest Park near the Center for Curative Pedagogics.

Recall that the project LV-RU-040 NewLINE “New life of old parks” was supported by the Latvia-Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020. The duration of the project is 24 months; all activities are to be completed by June 2021. The main objective of the project is to give a new impetus to the development of historical manor parks in the Russian-Latvian border as safe, attractive and accessible natural and cultural destinations for residents and guests of the region.
