Improvement of the part of Korytovo Forest Park in the Pskov City continues

According to information from the Center for Curative Pedagogics and Differentiated Learning of the Pskov region, work is continuing on improving part of the Korytovo forest park to create an inclusive park for people with various categories of disabilities.

The popular recreation area for Pskov residents and visitors is being improved under the “New Life of Old Parks” project (LV-RU-040 NewLINE), which is being implemented with financial support from the Latvia-Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020. The project partners are NGO “Lake Peipsi Project (Pskov)”, Center for Curative Pedagogics and Differentiated Education (Pskov) and Balvi Municipality (Latvia).

Both cities – Balvi and Pskov – are united by their historical past connected with the Korytovo Forest Park in Pskov and the “Bear Garden” in Balvi. These parks were created and improved in the early 19th century by the merchant family of Gorozhanskiye. Now, thanks to the project, the parks gain new life and will be available to all citizens and guests of the cities.

According to the results of the auction, LLC “Clean Yard” became the contractor for improvement of the Korytovo forest park. During the summer months, the forest park will be equipped with roads and paths, a parking lot, recreation facilities and playgrounds. In total, the first stage of improvement will cover an area of about 4.5 hectares. This green zone will be adapted and will be available for all population groups. It is planned to complete the first stage of improvement works in September 2020.
