SKILBENI MANOR

Skilbeni manor was in the territory of Latgale manor current Vilaka municipality. Following the 1920’s agrarian reform, the estate of Skilbeni Orlava manor was divided into 86 units of 1140 ha.

The red-brick building of the Skilbeni manor house is built around 1856. By 1866, the manor belonged to Martin fon Ulanovsky, but after the 1863 crackdown on the Polish and Lithuanian uprisings (the January uprising), he was deprived of it and assigned it to a Russian army officer, Zinovyev. In 1899, the manor was bought by its manager, Ivan Lebedev.

After World War II, a parish board, library and club were in the manor building. In the 1990s, there was a bar in the building – “Bonifacijs.” The interior has been rebuilt, there are no indoor wall paintings. The building is not used today.

The manor once had a beautiful rose alley, as well as a spacious apple orchard.
