Mazstraup castle was a castle of the vassal of the Archbishop of Riga. The year of construction of the castle is unknown. Historians believe that the castle may have been built in the early 15th century. The castle has been rebuilt in the first quarter of the 19th century with the use of Gothic revival elements. Mazstraupe the castle is an example of the earliest forms of Gothic.
In the 18th century, the garden was located on the slope of the river Brasla. Area – 3 ha. The Park is located on a hill on the bank of the Brasla around the former Mazstraupe castle. Large groups of trees have been preserved in the slopes with barely noticeable features of a regular layout. The basis of plantings is based on the rocks and trees of the local main leaves.
