MARCIENA MANOR

The origins of the palace building complex were found in the 16th century, when the first house of the Lord was built.

Farm buildings were built in 1825-1830: stables, barn, cellar, greenhouse, basement. At this time, the Park was also improved. The castle was built in 1830. It was a large three-story building with vaulted basements and a tiled roof. According to the history Museum, since 1885, with the appearance of von Maydel, the castle was rebuilt and recognized as a luxurious neo-Rococo estate in Latvia, which is confirmed by photos in the Museum’s collections.

The area of the Park is 13.75 ha, of which the pond and stream cover 0.12 ha. In the last days of the war, the castle was blown up, and some buildings of the former estate were preserved. The Park is characterized by large groups of trees. Streams run through the Park from a pond, and on the opposite side are large white willows. The basics of plantings are based on the main types of tree trees and Christmas trees. The local government in 2007 cleared the Park of bushes, leaving the trees.
