Manor castle built in 1769.year, repeatedly updated, adapting it to the needs of the school, because at the moment it houses the Balvi Vocational and General education secondary school. The Manor Hall has one of the best acoustics in Latvia, and every summer the Balvi Chamber Music Festival is held here. The building of the Manor also includes the “Laca darzs” (Garden Of The Bear) which is the former orchard of the manor surrounded by Hazel alley. In the middle of the garden there is a pond with an islet.
At the moment, a peculiar stone garden is created here with 23 compositions composed of 49 stones. Renovated Manor barn since 2010. the annual Museum of Balvi County and the Tourist Information Center are located. At the beginning of the” Laza darzs” hazel alley grows a great oak (504 cm) – near its scarred trunk one can hear stories about the people of the manor, the wise bear or the White Lady of the castle.
