Ungurmuiza Manor complex is a unique ensemble of wooden architecture from the 18th century, centered around the only Baroque-era wooden manor house still standing in Latvia.
The main Manor House was constructed in 1732 by Baron von Ungern as a family home, and it remains the only such Baroque-style wooden building from this period in Latvia. The exquisite interior paintings of the building are also finely preserved.
On the other side of the house of Ungurmuiza, already in 1733 began to build a Baroque regular layout “Linden garden”, the author of which is considered to be the gardener Heysel. Behind the courtyard of the Central estate in the late 18th century in the early 19th century, a landscape Park was created with a pond system and several great oaks. The area is 9.5 ha, of which 3 ponds occupy 0.2 ha.
The plantings are based on the local main types of trees, as well as spruce and pine trees. A lot of maples and oak (old trees at chest height reach a diameter of 115, 150, 180 cm).
