VALTENBERGI MANOR

The castle was built before 1780 for Baron fon Felkerzam in the style of German classicism, supposed to use the buildings of the Dresden architect F. A. Krubsatsius as a prototype. The building burned in 1905 and the roof was laid in 1911. The castle was restored only in 1920-1930 after a 1925 project for the needs of school. The building retains its 1920s interior decoration and construction details.

The area of the Park is 10 ha, of which the pond and the Salaca river occupy 0.15 ha. In front of the Palace is the main courtyard, then a long pond. Beyond the pond, new plantings of exotic species. The Park displays local and exotic species of trees and shrubs. Baltic balsam fir should be nominated as a rarity. Near the house of the Valtenbergi estate houses are regular Baroque gardens from two different times, which pass unnoticed in the landscape Park of the 19th century.
